History

Club Formation
29 Oct 2007

Weston Crusaders was formed in 1979 under the name of Milton Crusaders by Stewart Ogston. The Crusaders name was taken from where his grandparents lived in Bristol. In fact in our first tournament we were called Milton Bluebirds. We had an awful lot of help from Locking Football Club and without their help we wouldnt have started. In the beginning he did everything and then managed to coax one of the parents to help. His name was Phil Bragg who when Steve left the Club he became Chairman. Our first friendly was against R.A.F. Locking who beat us 6-1... Steve's son Kevin had the dubious honour of scoring the first goal. We struggled through the first season raising funds. Holding our first jumble sale we made £80, a lot of money in those days. It wasnt untill the second season Alan Russ became our Secretary and a good one he was too. We must not forget Derek Craddock sadly no longer with us. Derek was an ex Villa player and again an invaluable member. One of the original players, Kevin Ogston says "I have fond memories of the Club, my father founded. The shirts were hand stitched by my mother for that first game and the first game was made up of 10 of my classmates.(Chris Twort's class 1979)" The name change took place after involvement with Weston Super Mare FC.

The Crusaders Badge is from the Daily Express!!

TYBB
28 Oct 2007

The Club has developed a relationship with a Dutch Club in Haarlem and sends 2 teams each year to compete in their Easter Classic Tournament. Teams from all over Europe compete and the boys benefit from playing 'International Football'
TYBB stands for The Yellow and Black Boys and has a great history. Our association began at a baton twirling contest in Bristol. Since that day in 1983 we have visited each other on a regular basis. TYBB started the Easter tournament to give us competition against other teams from abroad. In 1988 we were the first team from England to win the Tournament. After the European ban on English teams travelling and playing abroad we were the first club to be allowed to send teams to Europe post 1990. We have won the Tournament a few times since then. In 2006 they joined up with local clubs and became Olympia Haarlem
